The Mediterranean dimension of security presents both challenges and opportunities; faced with this scenario, we are all required to engage in a renewed and deeper partnership and a long-term vision. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Marina Sereni, in Tirana at the OSCE annual Mediterranean conference, as member of the presidency troika of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

"The region embodies some of the most urgent problems of our day, such as political instability, migration flows, terrorism and illicit trafficking. Italy - the Deputy Minister underlined - has traditionally rejected the short-sighted vision of the Mediterranean as a source of challenges. For us, it rather embodies a unique platform of opportunities in the areas of energy, environmental protection, trade, tourism, youth and religious dialogue."

On the sidelines of the conference, the Deputy Minister Sereni had bilateral meetings with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia, and with the Secretary General of the Algerian Foreign Ministry, Amb. Rachid Bladhane
