Deputy Minister Di Stefano meets his Portuguese counterpart Brilhante Dias

This afternoon, Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano met its Portuguese Counterpart Eurico Brilhante Dias, the Secretary of State for Internationalisation.

“Our commercial ties are very positive, and Italy is Portugal’s 4th biggest trading partner. However, we can improve this further in many sectors,” said Deputy Minister Di Stefano.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to analyse the state of the bilateral economic ties jointly, as well as for an all-round discussion of questions related to internationalisation of the respective production systems, also in terms of the potentiality offered by possible collaboration in other Countries. In particular, they looked at mechanisms to feed the flow of respective investments, as well as to multiply the spin-off generated by tourism. They also looked specifically at evaluating returns that can result from collaboration on a European level, in terms of Important (hydrogen and battery) Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), as well as renewable energy prospects in general.

“We believe that internationalisation means trade and investment, and we know that these two dimensions are very closely linked. Very often, investments in a Country facilitate the creation of commercial ties. That is why we intend to promote these dimensions jointly, and we are very happy with our cooperation with the Portuguese Authorities” concluded the Deputy Minister.

Tomorrow, Deputy Minister Di Stefano will deliver the opening greeting for the "Portugal: tools for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation” webinar, organised by the Italian Embassy in Lisbon in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Portugal, ICE Agenzia and SIMEST, for Italian companies interested in working in the Portuguese market.
