Association of Italian Researchers in the Netherlands launched at The Hague

The first Italian Research Day in the World was celebrated on 25 April at The Hague. The symposium, which was dedicated to Italian researchers and scientists who work in centres of excellence, universities and companies in the Netherlands, was held at the residence of the Italian ambassador. It was organised by ION (Italiaanse Onderzoekers in Nederland – Italian Researchers in the Netherlands), a new association of Italian researchers based in the Netherlands, and by the embassy of Italy. Fifty Italian researchers operating in scientific, technological and humanistic fields took part, representing 250 researchers and scholars already registered through a mapping of Italians in the Netherlands. ION was created at the first meeting of Italian researchers based in the Netherlands held on 29 September by Italian Ambassador Andrea Perugini. The aim of ION is to be a meeting point for Italian researchers who are working there and making their fundamental contribution to the role played by the country as a centre of excellence at European and international level. The Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation presented a registry of Italian researchers abroad and previewed a platform called Innovitalia 3.0 which will allow all Italian researchers abroad to register.
