Quartetto Viotti performs at the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong
Quartetto Viotti performed last night at the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong. The event, which was promoted jointly by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Consulate General, featured a rich repertoire including Giovanni Paisiello, Alessandro Rolla and the Ouverture and selected arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni. The ensemble, which was well received by the many young people in the audience, was first set up by four prominent musicians with a view to promoting the tradition of chamber music with an open mind and an innovative approach.
Stefano Parrino  (Flute), Francesco Parrino (Violin), Maria Cecilia Berioli (Cello) and Luca Ranieri (Viola) chose to name their ensemble after an Italian musician and composer, Giovanni Battista Viotti (1755-1824), wishing to pay homage to a virtuous violinist and an innovative artist who contributed to the development of European culture.
All four musicians have worked both in Italy and abroad, alternating their concert activity with teaching experiences.
