Altagamma Day in the Netherlands, a global luxury hub

The Netherlands could become a regional and global hub to promote Italian luxury brands. This is the core meaning of the first Altagamma Day, an event organised by the Altagamma Club Amsterdam in partnership with the Italian Embassy. The initiative, hosted in the prestigious premises of the Societeit de Witte, was  opened by Ambassador Andrea Perugini - who also conveyed the greetings of the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Development, Michele Geraci - said “Altagamma represents the utmost of Italian excellence thanks to its capacity of combining tradition and innovation and converting them into business opportunities, highlighting the appeal that Italian lifestyle has on the Dutch and on all international customers transiting in the Netherlands.”

After listening to Andrea Illy, president of Altagamma, and to the remarks of a representative of the Dutch Government, the almost 170 guests participated in the round tables organised to liaise Italian and Dutch entrepreneurs active in the luxury industry.

The event, which marks the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and The Netherlands, aims to explore the untapped potential of Italian companies operating in the luxury industry in the Country. The opportunities regard the potentials of the domestic market alongside the possibilities of expanding Italian luxury brands to Asia, Africa and America through the global trading hub that is represented by the Netherlands. Lelio Gavazza, Altagamma Club coordinator in Amsterdam, underlined that this is to take place "in the aftermath of Brexit, which will inevitably move the flow of business opportunities from the United Kingdom to The Netherlands.”
