On 12 September, the Foreign Ministry signed a Declaration of Intent with the Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi, which was established in Reggio Emilia in 2011 with the aim of promoting solidarity projects through research in the area of education. The “Reggio Emilia Approach” is a philosophy that was developed in the Reggio Emilia municipal nursery and elementary schools in the post-war period, based on the idea that a child is the subject and holder of rights, who learns and grows in relationship with others, producing knowledge and communicating it to the external world through numerous languages, both verbal and non-verbal.
The Reggio Emilia Approach has already been adopted in several private schools in Beijing and San Francisco, where they developed an innovative continuity project also involving elementary schools.
The signing of the Declaration falls within the scope of the institutional activities carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Brand Italy abroad, with a special focus on the Italian language and culture and the right to education and to nutrition education.
The Foreign Ministry will especially concentrate its efforts on facilitating cooperation between Italian schools abroad and the Fondazione Reggio Children at the General Assembly on the Italian language, by promoting therein “Giornata del Gusto” (“Taste Day”), with a view to offering students and their families the opportunity to experience the relationship between different foods and beverages, through workshops on food for children and adults, also in partnership with chefs and professionals with different backgrounds.
