Tunis: stages Open Art Week

Exchanging creative experiences between Italian and Tunisian artists to pave the way for partnerships stretching beyond single events. This is the sense of the Open Art Week, a project networking artists and independent exhibition spaces worldwide through the organisation of a travelling Contemporary Art Week, hosted on the platforms of supportive art exhibition spaces cooperating to exchange creative talents and, through them, promote the current art scene of one’s city or country at international level.

After a week in Perugia, Open Art Week 2019 will travel to Tunis, thanks to the Italian Cultural Institute, and then to Odessa (Ukraine) in the second week of November, where Moldavia (Transnistria) will be this edition’s special guest Country. Overseas meetings and cooperation are the key themes of the 2019 edition, implemented through more than 10 artist-in-residence programmes, art co-productions and formats open to the public and professionals. Focus is placed on offbeat music, cinema, video-art, photographic, comics and performing arts productions, with a special attention for the newest urban languages and under-30 underground activities. Open Art Week is organised with the sponsorship and support of the Italian Embassy in Tunis, the Tunisian Embassy in Italy, the Municipality of Perugia, the Museum District of Umbria, and the Teatro Stabile of Umbria, in association with the Rambourg Foundation in Tunisia and with the MoOMA – Museum of Modern Art of Odessa (Ukraine). The initiative is part of the programme for the 15th edition of the Contemporary Art Day.
