The "2020 Cultural Season", promoted and organised by the Italian Embassy in Yangon, was inaugurated on 31 January with a concert entitled "When the piano meets the oboe".
This initiative is part of a series of events designed to present the Burmese public with a rich and diversified panorama of Italian music.
The Maestros Alberto Firrincieli and Arnaldo de Felice (who is also a composer) performed selected pieces from the mid-seventeenth century by Marcello and Scarlatti, moving on to the eighteenth century with Cimarosa, the nineteenth century with Ponchielli, and up to the present day with Morricone.
This event was greatly appreciated by the local public, which follows with interest the activities of the Italian Embassy and its commitment to enlarging the cultural landscape in Yangon.
Following this first concert of the year, both Italian Masters gave masterclasses for Burmese music students as part of the "Italy for Talent in Myanmar" programme launched by the Embassy.
