Paris celebrates the Italian cinema

To promote the Italian film production of the and to remember the long tradition of Italian-French co-production that over the decades has contributed to making European cinema great, the Italian Embassy in Paris celebrated the third edition of "Fare Cinema", the initiative to enhance the Italian cinema and film industry organized by MAECI (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), in collaboration with MiBACT, ANICA, Italian Trade Agency (ICE), Istituto Luce - Cinecittà and Rai.

In one of the most attentive and sensitive European Capitals to new films coming from Italy, Ambassador Teresa Castaldo met in Residence the heads of the Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel, the Centre National du Cinéma (CNC), Unifrance, the most authoritative French critics, the managers of the Parisian independent cinemas with Italian programming and the heads of the Italian Film Festivals in France to enhance our cinema and the high Italian professionalism among the professions of the sector. On this occasion, the Ambassador drew up a balance sheet of the first year of activity of the Bilateral Fund for the development of co-production of French-Italian cinematographic works, supported by MIBACT and the CNC with an annual budget of 1 million Euros to encourage international collaborations.

"In a sector that is now in a real emergency as a result of the health crisis, the reopening of cinemas in France is a sign of great hope for the recovery of a key sector also at an economic level for both our countries", was the Ambassador's wish, who stressed the need to continue integrated promotion activities, albeit in new digital forms, as happened in these days with the participation of Italian companies at the Festival International du Film d'Animation (MIFA) in Annecy, the Sunny Side of the Doc La Rochelle Documentaries and the Marché du Film Cannes Cinema.
