IIC Tunis: the Young Fashion Designers Mobile Video Contest

In view of the next edition of Open Art Week, a project created to connect spaces and independent artists in the world, which has scheduled for the autumn a series of initiatives between Italy and Tunisia, the organisers launch, in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis, Young Fashion Designers Mobile Video Contest, a call open to students and young Italian and Tunisian designers, to support new talent in one of the creative sectors most affected by the pandemic crisis.

"Experimentation", "living and acting in the world that will be – new visions and ideals", "sustainability", "local savoir-faire" are the guiding themes of the competition, aimed at creative under thirty who will have to submit short videos shot from mobile devices. The ten finalist videos will participate in an online collective exhibition curated by Open Art Week and will be broadcast through the channels of the organisation, the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis and the project partners in November 2020.

The first two winners of the competition will be awarded by a jury of experts in the field. The initiative is realised in coopereation with the Italian Embassy in Tunis, the Tunisian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and recognised international design schools.

Open Art Week is a project created to connect independent spaces and artists around the world. Launched in 2018, it has networked more than sixty cultural organisations in Italy, Tunisia and Eastern Europe; it has encouraged the international mobility of more than one hundred creative artists; it has promoted five weeks of independent art in the project's partner countries and more than one hundred events open to the public of music, theatre, cinema, dance, visual arts and training, reaching more than 50,000 people. In 2018 Open Art Week was recognised by UNESCO and the European Cultural Foundation as one of the initiatives that had the greatest impact on the cultural and social transformation of the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa).
