Lisbon, ‘Reflections’: photos by Gea Casolaro

The identity that forms through relationships, places, cultures and dialogue is the theme chosen by Gea Casolaro for her exhibition ‘Reflections’ that opened at the Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon. The exhibition displays some of the most significant works of the artist who, through photography, videos, installations and writings, has been exploring our relationship with images, current events, society and history for over 25 years. The exhibition, which was organised as part of the programme of ARCO Lisboa 2019, was opened at the presence of artist and curator Mário Caeiro and will run until 30 June.

It starts with the series of photographs titled Autoritratti infiniti of 1999, which were shot as self-portraits of the artist for the magazine Artel-Fenomeni contemporanei, and then moves on to the Still Here section comprising works developed during his in-residence at the International Art Encounters workshop of the Cité Internationale des Artes in Paris, and to his more recent works, like Sharing Gazes, a project realised together with a group of students from the School of Fine Arts di Addis Ababa with the aim of finding a focal point between different visions through the use of a camera.
