Press Accreditation Notice - Ceremony “A Forty-year-long Commitment for Human Rights

On Tuesday, 2 October 2018, at 10:00 a.m., the ceremony “A Forty-year-long Commitment for Human Rights” will be held in the Hall of the Waldensian Church of Rome to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Inter-ministerial Committee for Human Rights (CIDU).

The event will take place concomitantly with the International Day of Non-Violence which is commemorated precisely on 2 October, the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. 

The ceremony will be introduced by the President of the CIDU, Fabrizio Petri, followed by the opening statement on Human Rights 40 years after the establishment of the CIDU by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Claudia Del Re, and remarks by the Undersecretary for Family and Disability, Vincenzo Zoccano, and by the Director-General for Political and Security Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, Sebastiano Cardi.

The event’s agenda schedules a family photo at 11:00 a.m.

A Round Table titled “The Human Rights System on the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights” will be held from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

The afternoon session, “Reflections on the 20th Anniversary of the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders”, will follow from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. with a session dedicated to an “Interactive Face to Face with Human Rights Defenders”, which will be moderated by actress and TV anchor-woman, Lucia Loffredo.

The whole event will be open to the Press and will close at 5 p.m.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event are requested to apply for accreditation by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at the following address: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (Tel. + 39 06/3691.3432 or 8573 or 8210), attaching thereto the letter of his/her media organisation (or press card for freelance reporters) and, for members of the foreign press, a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organisation’s Country.
