On Thursday, 9 May 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m., the MACRO ASILO (in Rome, Via Nizza 138) will host the presentation of the second edition of "Fare Cinema" entitled “I mestieri del Cinema” (“The Trades of the Cinema”).
"Fare Cinema" is an initiative organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) with the aim of promoting Italian high-quality cinema productions abroad through the support of the diplomatic and consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes. It is an ambitious project promoted in partnership with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MIBAC), based on a multi-annual strategy and the cooperative effort between public and private actors in the film-making industry, in particular ANICA and Istituto Luce-Cinecittà. "Fare Cinema" is part of the activities scheduled in the “Italian Way of Life” Integrated Promotion Plan, which gives priority importance to the cinema sector.
The second edition of "Fare Cinema" will take place in the week between 20 and 26 of May 2019 and will be dedicated to the many “Trades of the Cinema”, meaning thereby all those professions that make up the complex film-making machine both on and off the stage and that contribute to the success of Italian cinema abroad. One hundred testimonials/ambassadors of the cinema in 100 different cities will speak about the Italian cinema in lectures, chats with the public, workshops, reports and experiences of their everyday work which is made up of passion, creativity and great technical skills.
The presentation event on Thursday, 9 May, is organised in association with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and will pay a tribute to all Italian cinema productions, its great tradition and young talents. The speakers scheduled to speak at the event are the Secretary General of MAECI, Ambassador Elisabetta Belloni, the Director General for the Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of MAECI, Vincenzo De Luca, the Director General for the Cinema of the MIBAC, Mario Turetta and representatives of ANICA, the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, the ICE Agency and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. The event’s Guest of Honour will be film director Dario Argento.
