Artistic residency awards

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, within the framework of the bilateral Cultural Agreements and relevant Executive Programmes, will negotiate with foreign institutional interlocutors Institutional Agreements regarding the Awards dedicated to the Exchange of artistic residencies. The exchange programmes for artistic residencies, established within the Institutional Agreements for Awards, will allow the artists shortlisted by a relevant Committee to benefit from the possibility to spend a period of time in a foreign country to work on his/her art project, with a grant from the promoting institutions.

Calls to apply for the Awards for the current year are herewith published. Anyone interested in participating may consult these documents, which include the terms and procedures to comply with in order to submit an application.


COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENT "The Italy-China Prize" - 1st Edition

As part of the Programme of Artists in Residence, supported by this Ministry, the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Cultural Activities (MiBAC) - the Directorate General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Suburban Areas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) - the Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing (IIC - Beijing), the Garuzzo Institute of Visual Arts (IGAV) and the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), announce the 2019 edition of the Italy-China Prize in the field of contemporary art. There will be artist in residence places for two young Italian artists and two young Chinese artists.

The two Italian winners of the "Italy-China Prize" will have the opportunity to spend two months at a Chinese institute under the mentorship of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing and the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), with the aim of deepening knowledge and personal experiences and to support artistic research through the comparison of different environments from the perspective of international exchange.Deadline for applications - 7 June 2019, 12.00 (midday - Italian time).Application forms can be found at
