The Foreign Ministry awards scholarships to foreign students studying subjects included in the so-called “Special Projects”.
Foreign students interested in the scholarships included in the Special Projects or in renewing their scholarship, must not apply for “scholarships offered to foreign students and to Italian citizens residing abroad (IRE)” of their Country but should follow the directions contained in the specific Calls for Special Projects published on the websites of the Italian Representations (Embassies and/or Italian Cultural Institutes) in the Countries contained in the list.
Foreigners holding scholarships under the “Special Projects” are not accounted for in the standard quota for the Country of origin. The agreement specifically regulating the “Special Projects” referred to in the relative Call for Applications, may establish application procedures, the start and duration of the scholarship and other details differently from the general provisions for standard scholarships offered to foreign students and to Italian citizens residing abroad.
For Academic Year 2018-2019 the Special Projects, defined in ad hoc Agreements between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the specific Training Institutions and/or in other applicable legislation are the following:
