Crisis management unit

The mission of the Crisis Unit consists in protecting Italian citizens abroad in emergency situations – international terrorism, socio-political tensions, natural catastrophes, pandemics and public health emergencies. New risk factors, multifarious threats and intense movements of people around the world, have created a great demand for information and prevention.


The Chief of the Crisis Unit

The Unit has the task of assisting Italians and protecting Italian interests abroad in situations of risk >>



Risk analyses, emergency plans and joint survey teams are some of the instruments used by the Crisis Unit to protect Italian citizens in emergency situations in any part of the world >>


In emergency cases, the Crisis Unit proposes different intervention options, based on in-depth analyses of the situation, to be assessed by the Secretary-General and the Minister of Foreign Affairs >>


Safe travel

Contains general information on foreign Countries, including eventual safety hazards for anyone travelling abroad, to enable travellers to make informed and responsible decisions >>

Where we are in the world

It enables Italians who are temporarily abroad to report their personal data – on a voluntary basis – in order to expedite and better target rescue interventions >>
