The new Italian honorary consulate recently opened in Chelyabinsk, in Siberia, will be led by Antonio Piccoli, who has business links with the region stretching back for over 20 years. The Italian delegation was led by the Consul General in Russia, Piergabriele Papadia de’ Bottini; the Director of ICE-Italian trade Agency, Maurizio Forte; and the Director of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce, Marisa Florio. The Italian delegation also included the actor Michele Placido, who enjoys great popularity in Russia.
Italian trade mission with 40 companies
A number of additional events were organised to promote cultural, economic and tourism relations between Italy and the Chelyabinsk region. These included the opening of the “Roma-Russia” and “Borghi d’Italia” exhibitions. A mission of 40 Italian companies also attended the consulate opening and will be taking part in the “Italy-Russia” Economic Forum. This will include direct meetings with 80 or so Russian firms and the participation of Governor Boris Dubrovsky and a number of regional ministers.
