“Italy must go back to believing strongly in the value of its cultural, literary, artistic and scientific legacy, which can be a driver” in regaining the role it deserves, asserted President of the Senate Pietro Grasso as he launched a new “Italo-Argentine think-tank” during a meeting at the Italian Cultural Institute. Present also was Italian ambassador Teresa Castaldo.
Fusion of culture, initiative and resources
“There is an Italy outside of Italy that we are all too often unaware of”, Grasso underscored, recalling having found in Buenos Aires “a vivacious Italy still capable of following a dream”, a place where “culture, initiative and resources fuse” and that confirms the importance of generating systems. The Senate president also pointed out that “this model of Italian projection must lead us to reflect on the importance of investing in culture, education, training and research”.
New think-tank
Grasso was pleased to launch a new think-tank during the ceremony, which was presented by Ambassador Castaldo and a group of young Italo-Argentines. The ambassador also pointed out that, “the projects realised in various sectors across Argentina by young and even not so young people” represented an “innovative and bicultural” instrument in an Argentina where “more than one thousand Italian associations” exist.
Present in addition to association representatives were several young think-tank participants who intend to promote various studies and initiatives, among which a study on the “new Italian mobility in Argentina”, one of the most interesting phenomena in Buenos Aires in the last decade, involving a substantial influx of Italian young people to live, work and study in the city.
