The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Giorgio Silli, opened the presentation conference of the tenth edition of the OICE Report on the Foreign Activities of Italian Engineering, Architectural and Consultancy Companies today at the Farnesina.
“Our engineering, architectural, and consultancy companies are the first and most valuable link in a value chain that spans strategic sectors such as infrastructure and transport, energy, planning, and construction,” emphasised the Undersecretary in his opening remarks. “This is the perfect representation of Italian expertise: extraordinary technical skills, innovation, creativity, combined with top-tier execution capabilities,” Silli added.
In 2023, Italian companies in the sector generated 30% of their total revenue abroad—a figure that continues to grow—confirming Italy’s prominent position in global rankings, such as the ENR 2024 (Engineering News Record) list of the Top 225 International Design Firms by foreign revenue, where Italy ranks as the EU country with the most companies (11), among the top six, and fourth globally by number of companies operating abroad.
“The growth recorded in international markets, with a 20% increase in revenue in 2023 compared to 2022, confirms the outstanding performance of our companies abroad, achieved also thanks to the effective collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation”, commented OICE President Giorgio Lupoi.
Also participating were the Secretary-General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, and the Vice President for Export and Investment Attraction at Confindustria, Barbara Cimmino. During the event, three operational agreements were signed between OICE and SACE, Simest, and ANCE.
