10th edition of the MED Mediterranean Dialogues Conference promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ISPI
Rome, 14 November 2024 – The 10th edition of the MED Mediterranean Dialogues Conference – promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Institute for International Policy Studies (ISPI) – will be held from 25 to 27 November 2024 at the Rome Cavalieri – Waldorf Astoria Hotel (Via Cadlolo 101) in Rome.
The Mediterranean Dialogues are the main public diplomacy initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This year’s edition will be held concurrently with the G7 Ministerial Meeting on Foreign Affairs hosted by the Italian government. Launched ten years ago by ISPI and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Rome MED has become the point of reference for discussing the strategic issues of the enlarged Mediterranean and fostering an open, informal high-level debate with institutional representatives, experts, analysts, young people, and representatives of civil society, the economy and the media.
The conference will officially open on Monday 25 November with a speech by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani and ISPI President Franco Bruni. Deputy Prime Minister Tajani will also speak at the closing ceremony on 27 November at 12:30 p.m.
The event will be attended by high-level representatives from all over the enlarged Mediterranean region, as well as representatives of numerous relevant international organisations, including Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General, Arab League; Taher al-Baour, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Libya; Abdallah Bou Habib, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Lebanon; Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, India; Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauritania; Shaya Mohsin Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Yemen; Geir O. Pedersen, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria.
To follow the event on the virtual platform (https://med.ispionline.it), you will need to register by Sunday 24 November at 3 p.m. by filling in the appropriate form.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending the event on 25, 26 and 27 November in person may apply for accreditation by sending a request by Friday 22 November at 4:00 p.m. to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06/3691 3432- 8573-3078- 8210), attaching the following:
For representatives of Italian press organisations:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
- Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.
For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.
Please note that on the day of the event, no new accreditation requests will be accepted; only substitutions will be allowed.
Photographers and television crews will be able to follow the proceedings directly in the event rooms, while accredited journalists attending in person can follow via audio/video link in the Press Room.
Access for accredited press at the Rome Cavalieri – Waldorf Astoria Hotel (Via Cadlolo 101) will be open during the following hours:
- 25 November from 8:15 a.m. until the end of the event at 6:00 p.m.;
- 26 November from 8:45 a.m. until the end of the event at 6:00 p.m.;
- 27 November from 8:45 a.m. until the end of the event at 4:00 p.m.
