On 24 April, to mark the eighth edition of the Italian Research Day in the World, Palazzo Metternich, home to the Italian Embassy in Vienna, hosted the first event of “In Dialogue with the Association for Scientific Exchange between Austria and Italy” (ASSAI), a regular initiative in scientific diplomacy dedicated to the community of Italian researchers and academics in Austria.

“The Italian Research Day in the World offers a valuable opportunity to highlight the prestige and excellence of our scientific ecosystem, which benefits from a rich heritage of expertise and professionalism recognised across the globe”, emphasised Ambassador and Honorary President of ASSAI, Pugliese, in his opening remarks. “The modernity and innovation of Italy in the global scientific landscape are particularly appreciated in Austria, which is a highly attractive country for our community of researchers and academics,” continued Ambassador Pugliese.

The event, dedicated to the theme of artificial intelligence in the fields of research and innovation, fostered a lively exchange among participants. It was moderated by ASSAI President Caterina Vizzardelli, with contributions from Daniele Barolo (PhD, Complexity Science Hub Vienna), Nicola Brocca (Postdoctoral Researcher, Institute for Subject Didactics, University of Innsbruck), Alessandro Coretti (Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Vienna), and Matteo Maffei (Professor, TU Wien, Head of the Security and Privacy Research Unit), further demonstrating the vibrancy and promising future of scientific collaborations between Austria and Italy.
