On 22 October, the Foreign Ministry’s Directorate General for the Promotion of the Country System will organize – together with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), and in collaboration with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM) of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) – the event entitled “Protecting Italian Companies in Foreign Markets. The International Network Supporting Industrial Property,” which will take place from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Sala Saraceno at the Foreign Ministry and can also be followed via live streaming.

The initiative is part of the tenth Anti-Counterfeiting Week (20-24 October, 2025), promoted by the Directorate General for Industrial Property – Italian Patent and Trademark Office of MIMIT. The aim is to raise awareness among consumers and companies about the economic, health, and safety risks associated with the distribution of counterfeit and non-original products, as well as to promote the protection and promotion of Made in Italy products.

The event aims to illustrate the supporting role that diplomatic networks, ITA offices, and industry organizations abroad can play for Italian companies, with concrete tools for protecting industrial property when exporting goods or when establishing themselves in new markets, within the framework of the priorities identified by the Export Plan and growth diplomacy.

The initiative will be attended by national and international experts, as well as representatives from institutions, trade associations, and companies, who will discuss strategies to combat counterfeiting, promote the authenticity of Italian products, and share best practices. Special attention will be paid to the role of industrial property as a key factor in the competitiveness of Italian companies in domestic and international markets.

Intellectual property is a key factor for economic growth and employment, especially in Europe. Defending Italian excellence worldwide is a strategic priority of the recent reform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. With a coordinated action at the national, bilateral, European, and international levels, this reform aims to actively support the protection of industrial property rights, also combating the phenomenon of Italian sounding.

With a view to participating in the event in-person, you need to register by sending an email to dgsp-08@esteri.it.
