The exhibition “Iperluce Italiana. The Reflective Genius of Getulio Alviani” has recently closed in Tokyo, paying tribute to one of the leading figures of twentieth-century programmed and kinetic art.
The show featured a selection of around fifty works – from the celebrated “Vibratile Surfaces” and “Specular Interrelations” to Alviani’s geometric and chromatic experiments from the 1970s and 1980s.
Through his research, Getulio Alviani expanded the boundaries of visual perception, transforming the viewer into an active participant in the artwork. His multidisciplinary approach profoundly shaped the dialogue between art, science, architecture and design.
The initiative was organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo and the Getulio Alviani Study and Research Archive Centre, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Tokyo.
