Dr Stefano Carvelli, Senior Officer of the Italian National Police and currently seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was today elected Regional Delegate for Europe to Interpol’s Executive Committee for the 2025–2028 term, during the Organisation’s General Assembly held in Marrakech (Morocco).
This significant outcome, achieved through close coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior in a highly competitive environment, reflects the effectiveness of the legal diplomacy promoted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, and the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, across a wide range of regions, from Latin America to Central Asia and the Balkans.
The result is a recognition of Italy’s steadfast commitment to combating organised crime, terrorism and other transnational security threats, and highlights our country’s prominent role in international police cooperation.
