Update on the fire in Crans-Montana

According to information provided by the Valais Cantonal Police, around 40 fatalities and approximately 100 injured persons have been reported following a non-deliberate fire that occurred last night at the Constellation bar in Crans-Montana.

The victims cannot currently be identified due to the severity of the burns sustained.

A family reception and assistance centre has been established at the Regent Convention Centre in Crans-Montana.

The Valais Cantonal Police have set up a helpline, available at +41 848 112 117, which can also be contacted from Italy.

The Ambassador of Italy to Switzerland and the Consul General of Italy in Geneva are travelling to Crans-Montana. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has activated an operational unit in Rome, involving officials from the Crisis Unit and the Directorate General for Italians Abroad.
