ITALY-ROMANIA – Work of art returned thanks to bilateral collaboration

The hunt for stolen works of art has seen another success story. A ceremony has been held in Târgu Jiu to mark the return of a silver monstrance taken in 2007 from the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Orta Nova, in the province of Foggia. The monstrance was discovered in Romania in May 2010. The operation was made possible by cooperation between the Carabinieri’s cultural heritage protection branch and the Romanian authorities, with the active support of the Italian Embassy.
