Tajani summons Israeli Ambassador after two Carabinieri officers were threatened at gunpoint

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has requested to summon the Israeli Ambassador to Italy to seek clarification and reaffirm the strong protest regarding yesterday’s incident involving two Carabinieri officers serving at Italy’s Consulate General in Jerusalem. The two officers were stopped in Palestinian territory, near Ramallah, probably by a “settler” under the threat of an automatic rifle. The Embassy of Italy in Tel Aviv has already lodged a formal protest with the Israeli government, addressing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, COGAT, the IDF General Staff, the police, and the Shin Bet (the Israeli security service responsible for the Palestinian Territories).
