The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, today signed at the Farnesina, together with Chief Executive Officer Matteo Del Fante, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and Poste Italiane. The agreement, signed in the presence of Poste Italiane’s Director General, Giuseppe Lasco, provides for the development of synergies in the logistics sector in support of exports, as well as the design of joint programmes to disseminate information on services and instruments supporting business internationalisation.

Poste Italiane – the only company explicitly mentioned in the Italian Export Action Plan – will also be able to structure its participation in international economic partnership initiatives promoted by the Ministry and of interest to the Group.

With the reform of the Italian Foreign Ministry, which entered into force in January, cooperation and instruments aimed at bringing the Ministry ever closer to citizens and businesses are being strengthened, steering the country towards growth and simplification, with a clear economic focus. The Export Action Plan is also conceived as a platform for dialogue with major state-owned enterprises. Thanks to its extensive nationwide presence and its logistics and postal services, Poste Italiane can make a concrete contribution to connecting Italian production to foreign markets, supporting it with appropriate tools.

Poste Italiane is Italy’s largest integrated services platform, operating in logistics and mail delivery, financial and insurance services, payment systems, telecommunications and energy. The Group employs approximately 119,000 staff, operates 12,755 post offices and manages EUR 601 billion in financial assets invested.

Poste Italiane already cooperates with the Ministry in several activities abroad and has recently registered interest from the authorities of Algeria, Albania and Libya in launching new forms of collaboration, which the Government strongly supports.
