Twinning/TAIEX
Administrative twinning programs (Twinning) and technical assistance projects (TAIEX) are instruments funded by the European Union. Their beneficiaries are central public administrations in EU partner countries, both in the Eastern and Southern Neighborhoods and throughout the world.
The participation of Italian experts in these projects strengthens the administrative capacity of beneficiary countries and enables our partner to acquire the skills needed to align with the EU acquis and founding values. Participation in these programs allows us to build, consolidate, and deepen relationships with the central administrations of beneficiary countries, with positive impacts on both bilateral relations and the country system as a whole, including in terms of business opportunities for Italian companies.
In recent years, Italy has confirmed its position as a European leader in participation in these programs. This is an important achievement, the fruit of the strategic planning that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation carries out in close collaboration with the several State Administrations and with the diplomatic and consular network abroad.
