Arrival in Italy of 72 Palestinian students from the Gaza Strip
Fiumicino Airport – May 12, 2026
Tomorrow evening, May 12, at approximately 6:05 PM, a flight departing from Amman will land at Rome Fiumicino Airport, carrying a group of 59 Palestinian university students from the Gaza Strip. Additional 13 students will arrive in Milan on Wednesday. The initiative is part of the programme “IUPALS” (Italian Universities for Palestinian Students), promoted by the Conference of Italian University Rectors in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Universities and Research.
The students will study in 21 Italian universities, including the State University of Milan, the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari, the Alma Mater University of Bologna, La Sapienza and Tor Vergata Universities in Rome, the University of Calabria, the Bocconi University in Milan, the Universities of Parma, Trieste, Palermo, Foggia, Pavia, Camerino, and the Federico II University in Naples. Two students will also study in the University of San Marino.
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, representing the Italian government, will welcome them at Fiumicino Airport.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in covering the arrival shall submit an accreditation request with their name, surname, place and date of birth, telephone number, a copy of their ID and professional card to pressoffice@adr.it, with copy to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it. The request shall be sent by 12:00 noon tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
The accredited press representatives shall be at Fiumicino Airport by 5:00 PM.
