Three years of initiatives to promote “System Italy” in Brazil

The Italian Embassy in Brazil, working in collaboration with the consular network and the Cultural Institutes of San Paolo and Rio de Janeiro, has produced an e-book on “Momento Italia-Brasile” (MIB).

The book is divided into two parts. The first provides information and data on the working method and organisational structure, goals, use of the institutional network, bodies and partners involved, programme produced, media impact and functionality of public diplomacy initiatives of this nature. The second contains lists, with contact details, of all those involved: the 101 Honorary Consulates, 461 associations, 716 Italian factories and enterprises, and other partners. It thus provides a useful tool to activate the Italian network in Brazil and the extensive network it encompasses.

The e-book also provides a complete overview of the events organised up to 2012 and those to be staged going forwards (“MIB dopo il MIB”).

The introduction to the e-book was written by Ambassador Gherardo La Francesca. “As the MIB draws to a close”, he comments, “we felt it useful to collect, organise and set down on ‘paper’ the necessary figures and information to draw up a balance sheet of over 3 years of work. Figures and information that could prove useful if, or rather in the hope that, the MIB turns out to be a starting point rather than a point of arrival. A starting point that will stimulate other initiatives – diverse but similar – in other countries”.
