Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani is in Reggio Calabria today to participate, along with Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro, at 5:00 PM at Palazzo Alvaro, in the press conference to present the next Conference of Scientific and Space Attachés and Agricultural Experts, scheduled to take place in the Calabrian capital. The last Conference was held in Naples in 2025. This year’s Conference will focus on cutting-edge technologies, ranging from artificial intelligence to quantum technologies, as well as space and agri-food, and will include a segment dedicated to start-ups.

The choice of Calabria to host this event is due to the high specialization of its universities in the field of new technologies, ranging from the Mediterranean University to the Magna Graecia University, and to the University of Calabria, which contributed to the drafting of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence.

The fifty Scientific Attachés will be the protagonists of the Conference. They operate in Italian Embassies around the world, in Permanent Representations to the International Organizations, and in Consulates: 12 in the Americas, 5 in Africa, 10 in Asia, 20 in Europe, and 3 in the Mediterranean and Middle East. Science diplomacy is a cornerstone of the Foreign Ministry’s efforts to support growth. In this context, the potential of Southern Italy’s regions, with their investment in research, innovation, and technology transfer, will be enhanced.
