The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, met today with Francesco Riva, President of the Association ‘Oltre Crans Montana 1° gennaio 2026 – famiglie italiane dei sopravvissuti’. Mr Riva is the father of one of the young people who were injured in the fire at the ‘Le Constellation’ bar on New Year’s Eve. The Association was established on 7 July to represent the majority of Italian families affected by the tragedy and to act as a point of contact in safeguarding the survivors and establishing the truth.
Minister Tajani welcomed the establishment of the Association and reiterated the Italian government’s solidarity with the families involved in the accident, as well as its commitment to getting to the bottom of what happened, confirming its continued support for cooperation between the Italian and Swiss judicial authorities. Mr Riva thanked the Italian government, the staff of the Embassy of Italy and Consulate in Switzerland, the regions, and the doctors and nurses of the Italian National Health Service for the care they have provided since 1 January.
The Minister confirmed that the Italian authorities will continue to support the families of the young Italians involved in the fire and stated that he had given specific instructions to the new Ambassador of Italy to Bern, Luca Sabbatucci, to continue to emphasise to the Swiss authorities the strong expectation that all civil and criminal liabilities for the tragedy be established as soon as possible.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore the Association’s priorities in greater depth and to hear proposals for initiatives that could be supported and promoted in collaboration with Italian institutions.
