The first Italy-Germany Cyber and Digital Dialogue, involving senior officials from the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs, took place on 18 September at the Foreign Ministry.
The Dialogue is part of the framework of the Bilateral Agreement on Enhanced Cooperation on Security, Defence and Resilience, as well as the Protocol on an Italian-German Action Plan for bilateral strategic cooperation and within the EU, signed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Rome last January during the bilateral intergovernmental Summit.
Against a constantly evolving geopolitical backdrop, the Dialogue facilitated a fruitful exchange of views on the situation of cyber threats to international security, on the activities of international organisations to promote responsible behaviour by States in cyberspace, and on the latest developments in the field of emerging technologies, exploring concrete opportunities for collaboration between Germany and Italy in these areas.
