Italy took centre stage at the third European Film Festival, held from 11 to 18 October at the Cinépolis cinema in the Oman Avenues Mall in Muscat – a significant opportunity for the local public to engage with the richness, diversity and vitality of contemporary European cinema.

The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Directorate-General for Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs of the Ministry of Culture, was organised by the Embassies of the European Union Member States in the Sultanate in collaboration with Omani institutions.

As part of the ITALIAN SCREENS initiative, Italy’s contribution featured the screening of three films from the national cinema scene: Come ti muovi, sbagli directed by Gianni Di Gregorio; Gioia mia by director Margherita Spampinato; and *La vita da grandi* directed by Greta Scarano.

The Italian Ambassador to Oman, Pierluigi D’Elia, emphasised that the Festival serves as a showcase for European creativity and an opportunity to present the quality and variety of Italian cinema to the Omani public, while highlighting opportunities for international cooperation in the audiovisual sector. Roberto Stabile, founder of ITALIAN SCREENS and Director of Internationalisation at Cinecittà, said:“We are delighted to be here in Oman for this important event, which provides an opportunity to promote our cinema and strengthen cultural dialogue between our countries.”
