Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, met with the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Petříček, in Rome today.
The Ministers had the opportunity to review the most important issues in the bilateral relations between Italy and the Czech Republic, which are characterized by a recent renewal of the political dialogue between the two countries and the positive growth of their economic relations with trade recording over 13 billion euros in 2018.
They also discussed questions regarding the European Union in the light of the upcoming EU Council meetings, possible Brexit scenarios and the EU Parliament elections. In particular, they talked about the negotiations that are under way to define the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2021-2027, the EU enlargement to the Western Balkan Countries and the discussions about reforming antitrust procedures.
Minister Moavero finally illustrated the priorities of the Italian Presidency of the Central European Initiative (InCE). Minister Petříček confirmed he will attend the InCE Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting that will be held in Trieste on 11 and 12 June, 2019.
