“We welcome Austria’s commitment to participate in the relocation process and its willingness to take in an initial group of asylum seekers: this is a positive development at EU level that needs to be strengthened further with the excellent bilateral cooperation that already exists.
“For its part, Italy has fully complied with all its duties regarding registration and the management of migration and expects to receive greater solidarity at European level, as a country on the front line of managing migration flows,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, at a meeting today at the ministry with the Governor of Tyrol, Guenther Platter, and the President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Arno Kompatscher.
Mr Alfano was thanked by the governor for his commitment as Minister of the Interior, and discussions were held on infrastructure cooperation in the Brennero and on whether Bolzano could become a destination on the “La Farnesina incontra le imprese” [Farnesina meets businesses] tour.
