The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, visited Tirana, a scheduled second stop on his Balkan mission to Serbia and Albania. The visit is part of the activities of the Italian Presidency of the Western Balkans Summit in Trieste on 12 July.

Minister Alfano met with his counterpart Bushati, Prime Minister Rama, the President of the Republic Nishani and the leader of the main opposition party Basha.

The talks focused on a shared analysis of the situation in the Western Balkans and the role the Trieste Summit will play to relaunch cooperation between the countries of the region. This is to involve them in developing projects to promote a gradual moving towards the EU. Minister Alfano said the EU needs the pro-European drive countries, such as Albania, that look forward to being integrated.
