New York: Claudio Magris talks about ‘Blameless’ with two special guests

Claudio Magris, a most revered Italian writer, will engage in conversation with colleagues Jamaica Kincaid and Norman Mane on 19 April at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York. The occasion will be the presentation of his latest searing novel, ‘Blameless‘, published by Yale University Press. The novel ruthlessly confronts the human obsession with war and savagery in every age and every country. Mr Magris narrates the tale of one man’s obsessive project to collect the instruments of death, of evil and of humanity’s most brutal atrocities in order to oppose them.
Claudio Magris is professor emeritus of modern German literature, University of Trieste. He is a recipient of the Erasmus Prize, among numerous other literary awards. His best-selling novel Danubehas been translated into more than 20 languages. Mr Magris graduated in German studies at the University of Turin, and lives in Trieste. He is an essayist and columnist for the Italian daily Corriere della Sera and many other Europeans magazines and dailies.
