The Farnesina is hosting “Why Women Matter – Promoting gender balance in public life and economic strategies”, an event organised by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in cooperation with WE – Women Empower the World, the Organisation for Cooperation and Economic Development (OECD) and Aspen Institute. The Secretary General of the Farnesina, Elisabetta Belloni, is opening the event, and the closing speech is to be delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni.
Numerous representatives of the political, entrepreneurial, academic and institutional worlds are participating, including Kristalina Georgieva, Vice President of the EU Commission, Emma Bonino, Honorary President of WE – Women Empower the World, Marta Dassù, Executive President of WE, Maria Patrizia Grieco, President of Enel, Monica Maggioni, President of Italian TV-RAI, Emma Marcegaglia, President of ENI, and Paola Severino di Benedetto, President of LUISS University.
The debate will focus on the leadership women can provide in politics, in the economy and in institutional public life at a national and international level. The Conference offers a female perspective and addresses the issue of how a gender-based debate can and should have a major impact on the future, with greater growth, competition and sustainable development, also in view of the Italian Presidency of the G7 in 2017.
