On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Italian Institute of Culture in Belgrade, together with the Belgrade Drama Theatre, will present the literary recital ‘Primo’ based on the book ‘If this is a Man’ by Primo Levi. The recital, performed by Swedish-born actor Jacob Olesen, presented on stages in Italy and abroad for over thirty years now, is directed by Giovanni Calò and produced by Enrico Carretta. ‘If this is a Man’ tells the tragic story of Primo Levi’s experience in the Auschwitz extermination camp during World War II. The intensity and lightness of Levi’s words, combined with the literary significance of the memoir, greatly inspire Olesen’s brilliant acting, which draws the spectators into one of the most painful episodes in human history. The performance, in Italian, is accompanied by overtitles in Serbian, from the translation of the book by Elizabet Vasiljević .
