Seoul: extraordinary success of “I Magnifici Tre”

Three Italian soloists – Francesco Buzzurro at the guitar, Giuseppe Milici at the harmonica, Nicola Giammarinaro at the clarinet – who have long been performing under the label of ‘I Magnifici Tre’ (The Magnificent Three), recorded an extraordinary success in their Seoul concert.

Organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in conjunction with the Italian Embassy, the concert was held at the Topaz Hall of the Hyundai Culture Park on 5 December before an audience of roughly 300 spectators and at the attendance of the Italian Ambassador in Seoul, Federico Failla, alongside numerous high-ranking representatives of South Korea’s business, university and cultural communities.

The key performer in the concert, which was divided into four sections, was Francesco Buzzurro, a real ace of guitar music, who began his solo performance with music from the best sound tracks ever written, passing through a medley of Beatles music to popular songs like Manha do Carnaval. In the following two sections, Buzzurro played duets with Milici’s harmonica and with Giammarinaro at the clarinet and closed with a grand finale involving both musicians. The audience watched the concert enthusiastically, rewarding the three performers with long rounds of applause and repeated calls for encores.

On 4 December, the three soloists held a masterclass at the BaekSeok University of Arts in Seoul.
