“Italia ♥Sri Lanka” is the title of the concert organised by the Italian Embassy in Colombo to present a piece of Italian music which represents a symbol of our culture – Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” – and offer a sign of solidarity to Sri Lanka, a country dramatically hit by an act of terrorism during the Easter holidays.
Maestro Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli conducted an orchestra made up of 19 young talents from several Italian theatres, among which three famous soloists: Antonio Senatore, first flute of the Orchestra of the Fondazione Teatro “Verdi” in Salerno; Rodica Vica, soprano, one of the best interpreters of Vivaldi’s refined arias; and Gennaro Cardaropoli, violin soloist of international renown and winner of numerous international awards. To consolidate the close cooperation between the two Countries, some of the arias were sung by two talents from Sri Lanka.
The concert also offered the opportunity to raise funds for the families of the victims and for the reconstruction of the churches damaged by the terror attacks perpetrated on Easter Sunday.
