Italy-Thailand, 150 years of diplomatic relations

Sixty-nine events with an Italian hallmark will be scheduled in Thailand throughout 2018 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the diplomatic relations Between Rome and Bangkok. The intense schedule of events, the most outstanding of which includes 8 opera singing events – including the ones with the orchestra of the San Carlo Theatre directed by Zubin Metha, the Italian Film Festival and the Italian Design Day – will be illustrated on 18 January by Italian Ambassador Francesco Saverio Nisio in his residence, at the presence of the Thai Minister of Tourism and Sport, Weerasak Kowsurat.

This promotional and cultural campaign integrated into the #vivere ALL’italiana initiative, is organised also thanks to 36 partners and 35 private sponsors through 3 multi-day initiatives in the capital’s large malls, three events dedicated to design, six exhibitions of ancient, classical and contemporary art, 8 theatre productions, 1 fashion show, 1 wine-tasting course and 3 literary and economic lectures. Music is highly represented: in addition to the opera singing events, there will be the “world premiere” of an original piece commissioned ad hoc by the Embassy to composer Arnaldo de Felice, 18 jazz concerts, 14 concerts of classical and contemporary music, six concerts with symphonic orchestras, two concerts of ‘a Cappella’ voices and choir, three contemporary dance performances and two events dedicated to the anniversary of Rossini. Present will also be the Italian-Thai Youth Orchestra Foundation. As in all the previous years, additional events will be promoted for the Third Week of Italian Cuisine in the World and the 18th Week of the Italian Language.
