The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, isin Brussels today to take part in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union.
On the agenda is an in-depth debate on EU-Africa relations, which will discuss issues related to security, development and dialogue in the multilateral context.
The Council will then exchange views on Central Asia, during which Minister Di Maio will present the results of his mission to Tashkent for the Italy-Central Asia Ministerial Conference, and on the EU’s bilateral and regional engagement, focussing in particular on the situation in Afghanistan and its possible regional repercussions, and on the topic of connectivity.
Venezuela is another topic that will be discussed by the EU ministers.
The Council will then review other issues that are at the top of the international agenda, including Russia and Ukraine, Varosha, Belarus, and Ethiopia.
A working lunch is also planned withMohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar.
