Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi expressed satisfaction with the news of the entry into effect of a new law in Cuba that will allow Cubans to travel freely and without prior authorization and to re-enter their country within timeframes less restrictive than those of the past.
According to Terzi “this is a positive sign” within the framework of an ongoing institutional updating, and which indicates the Cuban authorities’ intention to continue along the path of gradual reform.
The Italian government supports and encourages this progressive process launched by the government of Raùl Castro within the context of the constant commitment to the defence and promotion of fundamental human rights that is one of the hallmarks of Italy’s efforts in all international forums and, in particular, the European Union.
