The Italian Film Festival is back in Singapore. The film event, presented by the Italian Embassy, is scheduled to take place from 14 to 25 September. The opening film of the festival, which celebrates its 20th edition this year, will be “Diabolik” by directors Marco and Antonio Manetti (Manetti Bros.).
Ambassador Mario Vattani said: “Thanks to the growing curiosity of Singaporeans for Italian cinema, this year’s Italian Film Festival is also a tribute to the efforts of new generations of directors and producers, which is why we wanted them here with us, also to find new opportunities in a very rich market.” Vattani explained that “The festival will include a very wide selection of the latest successes of Italian cinema. We will open with Manetti Bros. who are coming to Singapore. Thirteen films, for almost two weeks during which the audience in Singapore will be able to enjoy the best of our cinema with action, noir, drama, comedy and horror.”
Films by the most renowned Italian masters will be screened during the festival: from Giuseppe Tornatore to Sergio Castellitto, Mario Martone, Paolo Genovese, Dario Argento, and then Jonas Carpignano and Giuseppe Bonito. Meetings with the audience are also scheduled.
