Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi held a telephone meeting today with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Croatia, who expressed his gratitude, and that of Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, for Italy’s rapid launch of the process for ratification of Croatia’s accession to the European Union.
Reiterating Italy’s intention to be among the first Member States to deposit the ratification instrument for this historic entrance of Croatia into the EU, the head of Italian diplomacy also pointed out that ratification of a bilateral cultural accord was proceeding with the maximum priority.
The two ministers agreed to stay in close contact – also within the Community setting, where Croatia already participates as an observer in the Council sessions, on pressing issues of common interest – particularly as regards efforts on behalf of the defence of religious minorities.
