The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Italian Embassy in Madrid, Benedetto Giuntini, had opened the “Forum Italia”, a conference on the Italian railway market organised by the Association of the Spanish Railway Industry (Mafex). The event was attended by several Spanish operators in the sector as well as Italian experts.

Giuntini reiterated the strategic relevance of the railway sector for the Italian economy and highlighted the constant work that the Embassy carries out in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency – ICE in order to attract investments, recalling that Italy has been at the forefront in the liberalisation processes of the high-speed train offer.

At the conference, which offered a wide-ranging overview of the state of implementation of investment projects in the railway sector linked to the NRRP and the multiple investment opportunities, the Head of the Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Office, Roberto Nocella, highlighted that Italy’s infrastructure policy responds to multiple objectives of a social and economic nature, involving greater geographical cohesion of the country, the environment, the internationalisation of the economy, with an emphasis on collective mobility and railway infrastructure. Marina Ruiz Ojeda, Head of Spanish investment attraction in Italy at the ICE Agency office in Madrid, then indicated the main incentives that Spanish companies in the sector interested in entering the Italian market can access.
