Kosovo: we support rapid EU association agreement, Terzi says

It is Italy’s hope that an association agreement between Kosovo and the European Union can be rapidly concluded, Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi said after a meeting with his counterpart from Kosovo Enver Hoxhaj.

That agreement would give Pristina “a solid and structured bond” with the EU, Terzi added, who then confirmed that country’s “intense” bilateral relations with Italy since its independence, and broad “economic and cultural relations that we hope to further intensify”.

For his part, Hoxhaj thanked the “citizens and troops” of Italy for ten years of “maximum support” on behalf of a “free, democratic and independent Kosovo”. As for the EU, the minister said he was looking forward to the lifting of visa restrictions on the citizens of Kosovo, adding that “there is no future for the Balkans outside of Europe”.
